David Johnston was unanimously elected President of the Highlands Ranch Historical Society at the September 14, 2022 HR Historical Society board meeting. He replaces David Hill. David Johnston, who is also known as DJ, had previously served as Secretary of the HRHS from 2015 to 2022. He has been an active member of the HRHS since 2012.

David has a bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado – Boulder and graduate degrees from the University of Denver. He has lived in Highlands Ranch for many years. His interests include traveling and history. He also volunteers as a Highlands Ranch Mansion Docent and served multiple years as Chairman and Vice Chairmen of the Douglas County Historic Preservation Board. David also authored the Images of America Highlands Ranch history book that was published in 2016.

Following the board meeting, Vice President Paul McKeag stated “I want to congratulate David Johnston as the new President of the Highlands Ranch Historical Society. His experience and leadership in the business world will be very valuable to the Society.”

DJ is excited to move into his new role as President of the HRHS, as he commented “ I am looking forward to working with the other members of the Board of Directors and our membership as we endeavor to define future goals for the next era of this Society. One of the goals will be to continue to expand, explore, and document the history of Highlands Ranch. “
