This program is based on John Anderson’s latest book that builds on the Dinosaur Renaissance, a scientific revolution that began in the late 1960s and exploded in the early 1990s.

Universal Pictures sensed the potential for a blockbuster motion picture and purchased the film rights to Michael Crichton’s novel “Jurassic Park.” even before the book was released. The iconic book cover, showing the profile of T. rex, was designed by a talented graphic designer named Chip Kidd. The 1993 hit movie, Jurassic Park, brought Crichton’s book to life and pushed the Dinosaur Renaissance to a new level of excitement around the world.

Anderson’s book builds on this momentum and confronts two continuous issues simmering in the paleontology community. Should the excavation and collection of dinosaur fossils be allowed by anyone outside of the academic community? Should these rare dinosaur fossils be sold to foreign buyers or permitted to leave the U.S. where they were discovered?

John will also discuss several of the famous dinosaur fossil discoveries made in the Denver Basin of Colorado including the Highlands Ranch Wind Crest Dinosaur discovery.

About our Presenter: John Anderson

John Anderson, MBA, is a published author, storyteller, and retired police officer and sheriff. To research his latest book, John accepted a position with Triebold Paleontology, Inc., making replica dinosaur teeth, claws, and skulls, while sweeping floors and taking the trash out at night.

For the next three years, John had access to rare dinosaur, ancient marine and flying reptile fossils while working alongside worldclass paleontologists at the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center where he shared their passion and captured their stories.

Prior to becoming a full-time author, John traveled the world, including adventures on a catamaran sailing the Caribbean, corporate security assignments into a combat zone on the Horn of Africa and landed on an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean. In 2022, he received the Golden Quill Award, presented by the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District.

John has written several Dinosaur books for children. The first one is now published and will be available to purchase. He will also have an assortment of his other books.  Cash or check only.
