Gary O’Hara, President of the Cherry Creek Valley Historical Society, and Lee Whiteley, famed local historian and prolific author, will fill in the answers to the above. Explore the fascinating history of Melvin, CO. Find out about the Mile Houses along present-day Parker Rd. Visit the Melvin School, which is celebrating it’s 100th Anniversary this year! Walk through the Melvin-Lewis Cemetery (wear very sturdy shoes or the cactus will bite!) and think about the sacrifices that many of those buried there gave for our behalf.
Boxed lunch is supplied, which we will enjoy in the Melvin Schoolhouse, a well -preserved 1 1/2 room structure hidden in plain site! Bring your water. sturdy walking shoes, walking stick, hat, and sense of adventure as we travel off of the beaten path in our own backyard!
