FAIRMOUNT CEMETERY TOUR: SYMBOLISM
Saturday, OCTOBER 1, 2022
10 am – 1 pm
$50 HRHS Members
$55 non-HRHS Members
Please join us at the beautiful Fairmount Cemetery discovering the symbolism that may illustrate the “Divine purpose which animates human endeavor…” Learn to read the art’s unfolding stories by decoding the symbols’ meanings on this tour.
For example, what does an anchor signify?? Or an angel?? Or a bird??
Undoubtedly you will gain a new appreciation and “eye” for carved stones (tombstones, building stones and more!)
Meet your tour guides at the Little Ivy Chapel – they will assist you during this walking tour of Fairmount Cemetery.
Following the walking tour, we will meet in the Chapel in the Pines for a box lunch (included) and informal visit with our tour guides as we discover interesting facts about the buildings, Fairmount, and one another!
After the formal tour and refreshing lunch, feel free to explore Fairmount on your own. Map and suggestions provided.
