November is officially recognized as National Native American Heritage Month.

National Native American Heritage Month is celebrated each year in November to honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Native American and Alaska Native communities across the United States.   The observance provides an opportunity to celebrate traditions, languages, and stories while raising awareness about the challenges Native people have faced historically and continue to face today

About our Presenter:   Christie Wildcat

Christie is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, with a major in Anthropology and minor in Indigenous and Native American Studies.  She is a Ph D candidate at the California Institute of Integral Studies.   Christie is the Assistant Curator of Native American and indigenous History at History Colorado.
Per the Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus: “Christie J. Wildcat is a Northern Arapaho scholar, advocate, and community leader from the Wind River Reservation. She is Assistant Curator of the Native Collection at History Colorado Center and holds advanced degrees in Indigenous Peoples’ Law and Anthropology. Christie is pursuing her PhD with research focused on Indigenous sovereignty, community wellness, and justice.
She serves as Tribal Liaison for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) for the Northern Arapaho Tribe and sits on the Wyoming Women’s Foundation Advisory Board and the Wyoming State Preservation Board.”
