The Denver Space Society (a chapter of the National Space Society) has this as its mission: Our mission is to promote the exploration and expansion of space exploration and operations by both human and robotic means beyond Earth orbit, and to promote education of students of all ages, especially in the Science, Technology, Mathematics, Art and Medicine [STEM(A&M)] disciplines for the benefit of all humankind.
Jim Barnard has been involved in aerospace activities since grade school. In high school, he designed and had fabricated and static tested a liquid propellant rocket engine. Following college, he was commissioned and served as a missile maintenance officer on Minuteman ICBM’s. On release from active duty, Jim spent the next twenty years working directly in the aerospace industry, and has kept up with space activities as a member and chapter president of the National Space Society’s Denver Space Society chapter.
