From the Gracious Lady of the Gardens to making way for the new River Mile, it’s more than a hundred years of Elitch history!
This PowerPoint presentation will examine the history of Denver’s most famous amusement park. Conceived as a quiet and beautiful retreat by the wife and as a successful theater by the husband, the park prospered in accordance with both their visions. Over time, aspects of the park’s spirit were changed as new hands claimed it.
In the modern era, many things were lost within the park, even before its move to downtown Denver. We’ll examine the history through pictures and stories, covering the modern day as well as the grand plans for Elitch’s Part 3. For lovers of the original and newbies to Colorado alike, the story of Elitch’s connects to many fine pieces of Colorado’s history.
