Our class room is known as the Chevy Lounge where we educate and train our clients. The diner is home to our fan favorite ice cream sundaes. DESCRIPTION:2024 Thursdays —   October 10 IS SOLD OUT\n\n @ 10:45 am – 2:30 pm\n\n\n\n\nCost: $55 HRHS members         $60 Non- HRHS members\nSmall group  tour to 20 sites in Denver\, followed by lunch at Gaetano’s.\nMeet at Gaetano’s Restaurant where our Tour Leader Tom will pick us up\, and transport us to Denver’s North Side for a driving tour and narration of these sites and people. We finish our tour at Gaetano’s Restaurant\, which was owned by the Smaldone family.\nLunch is NOT included in the cost\, that is additional for each person.  Prix Fixed menu\, Red (spaghetti and Meatball) or White (fettuchini alfredo with chicken)\, soup or salad\, bread\, non-alcoholic beverage for about $25.  Tax and gratuities added on by the restaurant.  Alcoholic drinks or dessert are available for additional cost. DESCRIPTION:Monday\, October 21\, 2024\nDoors Open at 6:30 pm\nEnjoy complimentary refreshments and browse our partner tables before the program.\nProgram  7:00-8:30 pm\nSouthridge Recreation Center\n4800 McArthur Ranch Road\, Highlands Ranch\n$5 Donation Suggested at Door for non-HRHS members\n\nThree days a week in over 900 papers across the country\, Erma Bombeck’s column At Wit’s End captured the ups and downs of a new American phenomenon\, the suburban housewife.\nFiguring you had to be able to laugh at life to get through it\, Ms. Bomback brought to American awareness the struggles of women whose lives otherwise felt invisible and taken for granted. She let women across America know:\n“You are not alone. We number in the millions. I\, too\, am an American housewife\, and I will laugh by your side.”\n \nWe will find out how Erma got started as a humorist.  You will surely chuckle along as she pokes fun at kids\, husbands\, household appliances\, and especially herself.\nThis program includes a monologue in-character\, a Q&A “with Erma” and a Q&A with the scholar/presenter\, Susan Marie Frontczak.\nABOUT OUR PRESENTER:  SUSAN MARIE FRONTCZAK\nSusan Marie Frontczak has given over 875 Living History presentations as Marie Curie\, Mary Shelley\, Irene Castle\, Clara Barton\, Eleanor Roosevelt\, and Erma Bombeck across 43 of the United States. She also works with both students and adults to develop their own Living History presentations and is the author of the Young Chautauqua handbooks for Colorado Humanities.\n \nSusan Marie joins millions of Erma Bombeck fans in the U.S. and around the world in celebrating one of the 20th century’s most prolific writers and humorists. As a teen\, she competed with her mother to see which of them could snag the monthly Good Housekeeping magazine in order to be the first to read Erma Bombeck’s column.\nSusan Marie says the hardest part of presenting as Erma Bombeck is choosing what to include from a seemingly endless supply of priceless material. It is a puzzle she is glad to take on as none of her other characters have given her so much to laugh at along the way.
