SUMMARY:Tour-Historic Elitch Theatre
DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY\, OCTOBER 3\nTOUR 10am – 11:30 am\nOPTIONAL GROUP LUNCH (not included in tour price) at Nearby Javier’s Diner. (Mexican-American)\nTransportation to and from Elitch Theatre is on your own.\nHRHS Member  $20      Non-HRHS Member  $22\n \nBuilt in 1891\, the Historic Elitch Theatre has been an important cultural hub in Denver for over a century. The theatre pre-dates the Denver Zoo\, the Botanic Gardens\, the Natural History Museum\, and the Auditorium theatre (now the Ellie Caulkins!) \nDuring the guided tours\, participants will have the opportunity to explore the theatre’s magnificent architecture\, learn about its illustrious past\, and uncover the secrets hidden within its hallowed halls. From backstage anecdotes to tales of Hollywood legends who graced its stage\, each tour offers a unique glimpse into the theatre’s storied history. \n \nTour guides provide fascinating insights into the theater’s past\, including its connection to the famous Elitch Gardens amusement park — originally called Elitch’s Zoological Gardens — which moved downtown in the mid-1990s and historic theatre was preserved at the original location. \nVisitors will learn about the famous actors\, directors\, and producers who have graced its stage over the years\, including Cecil B. DeMille\, Grace Kelly\, Robert Redford\, Vincent Price\, and hundreds more!   Did you know there was a Highlands Ranch connection to the Theatre?? \n \nThis is a combination walking and sitting inside and a bit outside. \nAfter the tour\, those of us who want lunch will walk across the street to Javier’s Diner.  Very casual and delicious. \n \nTransportation to and from Elitch Theatre is on your own. \n \nPhotos courtesy of R. Ziegler. \n..
