Highlands Ranch circa 1978

James Toepfer, the first President of the Colorado Division of Mission Viejo, presents the early history of this new master-planned community in Colorado.  Jim has been involved with HR since before Day 1.  His stories of the early days when the ranch basically consisted of a few homestead homes and the Mansion, thru the first 10 years, will shed important and entertaining light upon the massive undertaking of transforming ranch land into a thriving hometown for thousands.  Topics covered include: Who was Mission Viejo?  Who were the major players at the beginning?  What were the overall design concepts used in HR (Open space, neighborhoods, retail and commercial areas, infrastructure, community services?   What was the Master Plan?   Come and enjoy this unique opportunity to meet and learn from "The Father of Highlands Ranch".

Early Residents and Workers wanted!  If you are an early resident or worker in HR, please come and be sure to introduce yourself!  This program celebrates not only the community, but also the people who made it special!

This program will be held at the Highlands Ranch Mansion.  Docents will be on hand to answer questions and provide historial information during self-guided Tours of the Mansion before the program starts.   Attendees are encouraged to arrive at 6 pm, tour the Mansion, have a refreshment, and enjoy this very special event and location!   The Mansion is especially beautiful at night, so be sure to take full advantage of this unique access to this gem within our midst!
