DENVER’S AMUSEMENT PARKS at HISTORY COLORADO: RTD tour  Monday, May 11   $10.00

Leader: Toni Martin   RTDTours@HighlandsRanchHistoricalSociety.org

Nearly 5,000 amusement parks were built in the United States between 1895 and 1920, and most major cities had one. By 1908, Denver had four to choose from, while memories of a recently closed fifth still lingered. After 1914, only two—Lakeside and Elitch‘s— remained to entertain tens of thousands of customers yearly. Then two new ventures in the ‗50s threatened their dominance. Join historian David Forsyth for a trip through this rollercoaster history. Monday, May 11th, 2015. Lecture is at 1:00 p.m. –2:00 p.m. Includes program + admission to all History Colorado Center exhibits.

We will arrive at 10:00 a.m. and leave right after the lecture. There is a wonderful café in the museum called the Rendezvous café with sandwiches, salads, burgers, fries and much more.

RTD Pickup time TBD, Toni will notify registrants. Times above are estimates.
