The Fly'n B: Colorful History and Characters, NOT Just Another Farmhouse!

In fact, the Fly'n B, also known as the Plews House,  shares a connection with greenhouses, Johnny Appleseed, social gatherings, gambling, mobsters, car bombing, “More Horsepower for the Dollar”,  children at play,  airplanes, and the Gates Rubber Company!  They all were involved, at various times, with the property we today call The Fly’n B Park.

A Colorado Winter is derived from the new book of the same title. You will feel the need to wear your parka while viewing over 200 of John’s most sublime winter photographs! In addition, John share stories of life on the winter trail, often en route to remote cabins in Colorado’s diverse winter hut network. Beautiful music has been carefully selected to marry with the world of white.

Annual Tribute To Veterans Program: Guts and Glory: Modern Medicine and Surgery During the Civil War

Civil War Medical and Surgical Practices, presented by Dr. Robert Mallin, a noted Civil War Medical expert.  

Bob Mallin is a retired surgeon who practiced in Anchorage Alaska and retired to Santa Fe New Mexico. He Volunteered at Pecos National Park. the site of the battle of Glorieta Pass during the New Mexican Civil War campaign. The presentation will be a survey of medical and surgical practices during the American Civil War.  We will discuss the myths of "bitten Bullets", whiskey anesthesia, barbaric practices, and short comings, as well as innovations and advances.  Dr. Mallin has an antique 1864 Contract Surgeon's surgical  kit and several additional instruments to demonstrate...surgical volunteers not solicited!
