My Trips to Mountain Jeannie’s Trail’s End

Mention the name “Mountain Jeannie” to a long time resident of Roxborough and you’ll hear a tale---true or not---about a woman who lived by herself for decades in a house at Trail’s End. Trail’s End was located at the end of a dusty dirt road that winds up into the foothills several miles south and west of Roxborough Park.  Jeannie, whose real name was Dorothy Thompson Persinger, lived there alone for many years and stories about Jeannie’s adventures are legendary.

On Friday July 17 from 7-9 p.m. Jeannie’s granddaughter, Melanie Grothe, who stayed with Jeannie over several summers, will separate fact from fiction and recall her memories of Jeannie and life at Trail’s End.  The program sponsored by Roxborough Area Historical Society (RAHS) will be held at the Roxborough Park Community Center and is open to the public.  Registrations may be made by email @ roxhistory@msn.com for more information check out www.roxhistory.org
